What is PHP ?

PHP ( Hypertext Preprocessor ) is a scripting language built-in HTML. Most of the syntax similar to C language, Java and Perl, PHP plus some specific functions. The main purpose of this language is to allow web designers to write dynamic web pages quickly. PHP is a web programming language that is server-side.

PHP has several advantages such as when an e-commerce is growing, static websites are increasingly considered to have abandoned because not meet the market demand for such sites must remain dynamic during each day. At this time the language PERL and CGI is far behind the times so that most web designers a lot of switching to server-side scripting language that is more dynamic like PHP. The main strengths of PHP is on connectivity with the system databases on the web. Database system that can be supported by PHP include: Oracle, MySQL, Sybase, PostgreSQL and others. PHP can run on different operating systems like Windows 98/NT, UNIX / Linux, Solaris and Macintosh.

Another advantage of PHP is PHP also supports communication with services such as IMAP protocol, SNMP, NNTP, POP3 and even HTTP. PHP can be installed as a part or module of the Apache web server or as a standalone CGI script. Many benefits can be obtained when using PHP as an apache module from them are:
1. Security level high enough
2. faster execution time compared with other web programming language oriented server-side scripting.
3. Access to the database system more flexible. such as MySQL.
